Abstract: The basic behavior of self-induced flotation and controlled electric potential flotation of chalcopyrite and marmatite were investigated in this paper. It was shown that chalcopyrite exhibit good self-induced floatability in wide pH range and its flotation behavior can be controlled by the externally controlled voltages. Marmatite can realize self-induced floatability in acidic condition and its self-induced floatability can be controlled by the externally controlled voltages. While marmatite can not realize self-induced floatation and hardly improve its floatability by varying externally controlled voltages in alkaline condition. Reaction products by the surface oxidation of two minerals were studied by measuring the cyclic voltammetric curves, where the elemental sulfur was the main hydrophobic entity.
