Analysis and Application of Beams Model of Elastic Foundation with Paste Backfilling

Abstract: Based on the analytic method of beams on elastic foundation,the three principle factors were considered to build mechanical model on the condition of long-wall mining with backfilling,with which basic differential equations of deflections were obtained.All factors affecting movement of overlying strata,the distribution of the front and rear abutment pressure were analyzed through the solutions from these differential equations.The result shows that maximum deflection of immediate roof is 5~15 m at the rear of the mining face,the coefficient of elastic foundation is the most important factor affecting subsidence in gob,and the distribution of abutment pressure in gob also depends on the coefficient of elastic foundation.The most effective approaches to control and deflection of immediate roof and surface subsidence are to increase the value of coefficient of foundation and decrease the value of the gap between immediate roof and backfill.Field experiment at Xiaotun colliery also shows that the in situ value of maximum subsidence is 380.3 mm,which is very close to the predicted value 401.8~591.2 mm with the analytic method.
