Abstract: With the steep topography and large height difference，Baima Iron Mine's dump belongs to the multi-step overlay dump. In order to ensure the stability of dump slope，the residual thrust method within the limit equilibrium analysis method is adopted to calculate the stability of the bench slope and the overall slope under different bench's heights and different platforms' width. With the least squares method is used to determine the step height (40 m) and platform width (50 m) that is allowed by the safety factor.
