Abstract: Using the sandstone coal gangue from Chaoyang area of Liaoning province as main raw material to prepare ceramsite, together with oil shale and shale which is easy to get in this district as main mixing material, the Ceramsite's plasticization is studied. The result showed that the plasticity index, the granulation rate of the unbaked ceramsite increase with improving the fineness of the sandstone coal gangue, furthermore the cylindrical compress strength of the baked ceramsite correspondingly increased; The plasticity index of the unbaked ceramsite and the cylindrical compress strength of the baked ceramsite have small extent of improvement by mixing with oil shale, but there was no significant effect on the granulation rate of the unbaked ceramsite. Mixing with shale could obviously improve the plasticity index and the granulation rate of the unbaked ceramsite and the cylindrical compress strength of the baked ceramsite. When the mass ratio of the sandstone coal gangue and shale is 6∶4,the cylindrical compress strength of the baked ceramsite could be up to 8.4 MPa.
