Abstract: Engineering & Research Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy,Aluminum Corporation of China During process of roadway drilling, excavation and construction in a bauxite mine, there usually meets with a fracture zone with an approximately 60 m wide fault.Since the surrounding rock has a poor self-stability ability, the improper construction would result in the roof caving and collapse, seriously influence the construction safety and schedule. The paper introduces in detail the design parameters and construction requirements of pile-shed supporting during the roadway tunneling. After experiencing over two months in this project, the tunnel successfully passed this fracture zone. The advance drilling at working face is adopted.Especially in the weak fracture zone, the small pile-shed supporting can ensure the roadway tunneling.
