Abstract: The paper describes the key technologies (spectral characteristics analysis, image mask, mine tailings identification and distribution),system flows and framework design of “the Hyperspectral Mine Tailings Identification and Distribution System” based on the IDL language, and discusses the design ideas of the system for the industrial applications in detail. With the aims for the hyperspectral mine tailings identification and distribution, the system is divided into four functional modules: the spectral characteristics analysis of remote sensing imagine, remote sensing image mask processing and mine tailings identify and distribution. And experiments are conducted in Dexing Copper Mine in the northeast of Jiangxi to get the mine tailings maps in the experimental area.Compared with the actual mine tailings distribution, the experiments proved that the system is feasible and practical.Meanwhile, the existing problems in the system are discussed as well.
