Abstract: The effect of sodium oleate as grinding aids on the grinding efficiency of oolitic hematite was studied and the mechanism of the grinding aids was analyzed. The results indicated that the sodium oleate is a very effective grinding aid during grinding of oolitic hematite. Under the condition of grinding concentration 50%,the addition of sodium oleate is 0.4%. As the grinding aid, sodium oleate mainly reduces the micro-hardness of hematite, and is beneficial to separate hematite from collophanite since it leads to the hydrophobic reunion action of hematite particles.
