Beneficiation of a Low-grade Manganese Carbonate Ore with High Iron and Sulfur in Zunyi

Abstract: There are many difficulties such as large amount of processing,high cost and complicated process in the direct leaching of Low-Grade Manganese Carbonate ore with high iron sulfur in Zunyi.In order to solve these problems,the mineral processing experiment was carried out on the basis of process mineralogy.Research shows that,93.45% of total manganese is manganese carbonate,iron sulfur mainly exists in the form of pyrite,the main mineral dissemination is closely related to ore.Under the grinding fineness of 85% passing 0.074 mm,and by the process of high intensity magnetic separation-regrinding of high intensity magnetic separation concentrate (the grinding fineness of 65% passing 0.037 mm)-reverse flotation-sulfur gravity concentration by the spiral chute and tabling from magnetic separation tailings,final manganese concentrate with Mn grade of 26.01% and Mn recovery of 91.85%,Fe grade of 7.31% ,S grade of 0.76%,and sulfur concentrate with S grade of 38.47% and S recovery of 72.54% were obtained separately.The removal rate of S and Fe from manganese concentrate was 92.30% and 59.37% respectively.After the discarding rate 42.43% of tailings and 9.03% of sulfur concentrate,the manganese grade increased from 13.75% to 26.01%,which created favorable conditions for subsequent leaching of manganese.This process can reduce the acid consumption of the electrolytic manganese metal,the ammonia consumption,the burden of the combined press,the processing cost of the slag,etc.and achieve significant economic benefit for enterprises.
