Study on Preparation and Preventing Leakage Mechanism of Dense Pre-hydrated Geosynthetic Clay Liner

Abstract: In order to explore the effects of modification and mixing process on preventing leakage effect of dense pre-hydrated geosynthetic clay liner (DPH-GCL),infiltration test of the DPH-GCL in different preparation conditions were conducted with bentonite in Xiazijie street in Xinjiang as raw material,natural rain as the leakage of water medium.The appropriate preparation technology were determined,and preventing leakage mechanism were analyzed through the microscope,FTIR and XRD.The results showed that: ① The preventing leakage effect of C-type blanket,which was treated with modified and mixing combinated process,is the best.And the dosage scheme of modified reagent is 2 g amide polymer monomer Ⅰ,0.15 g initiator Ⅱ and 0.07 g initiator Ⅲ.The preventing leakage effect of B-type blanket treated only by modification is slightly worse,and the preventing leakage effect of A-type blanket without modification or mixing is the worst.② The suitable laminating time and pressure of three kinds of DPH-GCl are as follows: A-type blanket 5 min,5 MPa,B-type blanket 5 min,1 MPa,C-type blanket 1 min,1 MPa.③ Modification and mixing process can affect the bonding state of bentonite.After modification,the surface of bentonite particles is hydrophobic,and mixing enhances the hydration ability of bentonite.Bentonite can adsorb more water molecules and other ions in the solution,and the structure is more compact between the particles,and more stable.
