Abstract: To further improve the iron grade of a titanium-bearing iron concentrate in the Panxi area,a process mineralo gy and fine grinding-magnetic separation experimental study was conducted.Through analysis of mineral dissemination charac teristics and element occurrence states, the mineralogical factors affecting concentrate upgrading were clarified, and the feasibil ity of fine grinding for upgrading was evaluated. The results show that the sample has a TFe grade of 41.59% and a TiO2 con tent of 10.84%.The main valuable minerals are titanomagnetite and ilmenite, while the gangue minerals are mainly pyroxene, chlorite, kaersutite, hornblende, and plagioclase. Iron is mainly hosted in magnetic iron minerals, with a distribution rate of 90.12%;Titanium is mainly distributed in titanomagnetite and ilmenite, among which the TiO2 distribution rate in titanomagne tite is 65.59%.Titanomagnetite,ilmenite,and sphene are mainly finely disseminated and closely intergrown with gangue miner als.The liberation degree of titanomagnetite is only 36.12%,which is the main factor limiting the improvement of iron concen trate grade. After grinding the material to 90% passing 45 μm using a horizontal stirred mill, the mineral liberation was signifi cantly improved. Through two-stage magnetic separation,a magnetic concentrate with a yield of 78. 06%,TFe grade of 50.90%,and TFe recovery of 95.54% was obtained, and the contents of gangue components such as SiO2 ,MgO,Al2 O3 ,and CaO in the concentrate were significantly reduced. The results indicate that the fine grinding and multi-stage magnetic separa tion process can effectively upgrade and reduce impurities in titanomagnetite concentrate. This study provides a technical refer ence for the deep upgrading of vanadium-titanium magnetite concentrate in the Panxi area.
