Abstract: Investigation was made on the magnetization-roasting process for recovering iron from pyrite cinder. At a roasting temperature of 800 ℃, roasting time of 15 min, and carburizing rate of 7%, the magnetization effect was ideal. An iron concentrate grading 65.03% at a recovery of 83.54% and yield of 67.60% could be obtained by one-stage grinding and three stage magnetic separation. In the test production line adopting the magnetization-roasting process, an iron concentrate grading 64.71% at a recovery of 86.85% and yield of 70.92% and containing 0.23% sulfur was obtained. The per-ton processing cost of concentrate was about RMB 110, very obvious economic benefit.
