Abstract: In the determination of the aluminum content in iron ore by EDTA volumetric method, the interferential elements must be removed in advance. The conventional process for the separation is rather complicated and involves three steps: organic agent extraction, weak alkalescent separation and alkaline separation.Two-step method involving only ammonia separation and alkaline separation was used to simplify the traditional one and the favorable conditions were determined for each step by experiments. The results of the comparison with the real standard test sample indicate that the improved method can meet the requirement in both accuracy and precision, and is capable of rapid determination of the aluminum content in natural iron ore, iron concentrate, sintered ore and pellets in scope of 0.25%~5.00% aluminum content.
