Abstract: Test research on preparing porous biological ceramsite by roasting with tailings from Xialong Tungsten Mine in Dayu, Jiangxi as the raw material and furnace slag, coal ash and clay as auxiliary materials. The results indicate that when the volumetric ratio of tungsten tailing, slag, coal ash and clay is 4∶1.5∶1.5∶1 and the roasting temperature is 100 ℃, the biological ceramite prepared has a density of 1.61 g/cm3, bulk density of 1.10 g/cm3, specific surface area of 9.7 m2/g, acid soluble rate of 0.17%, alkaline soluble rate of 0.33%, and cylinder-mould strength of 8.1 MPa.When used to treat sewage with 817 mg/L CODCr, this biological ceramsite exhibited the advantages of rapid biofilm formation, large microbe attachment and easy backwashing, and reduced 20 d CODCr by more than 93%.
