Abstract: With the rapid development of China's iron and steel industry，iron ore resources with the properties of high-grade and readily separated are on the verge of depletion. How to rationally exploit and utilize complex and refractory iron ore resource is of great importance to release the contradiction between the supply and demand of iron ore and promote the development of China's iron and steel industry. Beneficiation techniques on limonite developed in recent years mainly include single process of gravity or magnetic separation etc. and combined processes with selective flocculation flotation etc. The results show that any effective beneficiation technique is not mature to be formed yet. Hence，a systematic classification for limonite ore resources is taken according to its characteristics，and then an effective beneficiation technique for the specific limonite ore resource was developed. This may be an effective way to resolve the problems of beneficiation technique on limonite gradually. 
