Abstract: To alter the very low proportion of Brazilian specularite in the feed of oxidized pellets, new technique of high pressure roller grinding (HPRG) was adopted in its pretreatment before the pelletization. The pellet feed composing 70% Brazilian specularite and 30% concentrate of magnetic separation was pretreated by HPRG at 71% circulating load in a simulated closed circuit, and then mixed with 2.4% bentonite, and pelletized for 15min at 8% moisture. The resultant green pellets achieved drop strength of 4.5 times, compression strength of 10.25 Newton per pellet and thermal shock temperature of 455 ℃.When the green pellets were preheated at 1 050 ℃ for 10 min and roasted at 1 280 ℃ for 12 min, the fired balls had compression strength of 2 690.88 Newton per pellet, satisfying the requirement of palletizing production.
