Study on the Preparation of TiO2 / Pillared Bentonite Composite Photocatalyst and Its Application

Abstract: With modified Xinjiang Wulanlingge bentonite, titanium tetrachloride and tetrabutyl titanate as the raw materials, TiO2/pillared bentonite composite photocatalyst was prepared by pillaring and multiple loading method. The optimal conditions for the preparation were obtained by adjusting the proportion of TiO2/pillared bentonite,number of loading times and roasting temperature.The TiO2/pillared bentonite composite photocatalyst was characterized by XRD, IR, SEM and EDS. TiO2 was found to be highly dispersed and have penetrated into the lattice layers of bentonite, enlarging the interlayer space and forming non-interfering active reaction centers. The photocatalytic degradation performance of pillared bentonite composite photocatalyst was studied in simulated dyestuff wastewater and the photo degradation test of this photocatalyst was also made in petrochemical oilcontaining effluent.
