Abstract: The iron ore sample is decomposed with NaOH+Na2O2 flux and the melt is digested with dilute hydrochloric acid to convert the SiO2 into soluble silicic acid. Then the silicon dioxide content in the sample is determined by molybdenum-blue spectrophotometry. The method that is simple, accurate and reliable enables a rapid macroanalysis of silicon dioxide, well meeting the control requirement of iron ore beneficiation.
