Abstract: The composition characteristics of slag from desulphurization and slag skimming in AnSteel represented by Angang Group's First Steel Works was studied by size composition analysis, chemical analysis, XRD, SEM and iron phase analysis. The study result indicates that this slag's main valuable element is iron, whose content is as high as 54.18%, and its main harmful element is sulfur, whose content is 1.01%.Its main phases include metal iron, magnetite, ferrites, silicates and aluminates. The iron occurring in metal iron and magnetite amounts to 61.88% of the total iron and the sulfur mainly occurs in calcium sulfide and sulfate minerals. The iron is mainly distributed in coarse fractions while the sulfur in both coarse and fine fractions.
