Abstract: An iron ore of Guizhou contains iron minerals which are mainly limonite and pyrite and gangue minerals that are mainly aluminosilicates such as clay and chlorite. The ore is characterized by fine dissemination size of iron minerals, complex intergrowth and being easy to slime in grinding, belonging to refractory iron ores.Beneficiation tests were made on the processes of gravity separation, high intensity magnetic separation (HIMS), and HIMS -reverse flotation, which all achieved a very low grade and recovery of iron concentrate.Based on the orthogonal conditional optimization tests of magnetized roasting-LIMS, a process consisting magnetized roasting, grinding-classification, LIMS of fine particles and regrinding- LIMS of coarse particles was adopted, producing an iron concentrate assaying Fe 61.22% at a Fe recovery of 77.82%.This study has laid a foundation for the exploitation and utilization of this iron ore of Guizhou and can also be used as reference to the exploitation and utilization of other similar iron deposits.
