Abstract: Collecting performances of N-lauryl-1, 3-diaminopropane (ND13) for quartz, hematite, calcspar, calamine and magnesite are investigated and compared with those of laurylamine by flotation experiments. The result shows that it has a stronger collecting performance for quartz than laurylamine does. The recovery of quartz is more than 90% in a wide pH range and can be as high as 98.38% at pH=10.02.The collecting performance of ND 13 for hematite is little different from, but for calcite, evidently poorer than that of laurylamine. It has basically no collecting capacity for calamine and magnesite. The calculation of group electronegativity shows that ND13 has a better selectivity than laurylamine does.
