Abstract: According to the theoretical formula for plane resolution, the formula for adjacent point gap(namely point cloud resolution),which located in vertical plane and horizontal plane away different distance from the center of terrestrial 3D laser scanning,is deduced. And the formula for calculating numbers of points in unit area located in different distance from scanner is also obtained. The influence of point cloud resolution to positional accuracy and ranging precision is analyzed through experiments; Probability-integral parameters are acquired by using point cloud data of mining subsidence observation in some coal area resampling with different resolution, then analyzing the change of parameters under different resolution,The setting criterion of optimum point cloud resolution is determined to be 300 mm/100 m after contrast and anlysis.
