Abstract: Considering the relationship between permeability-strain curve and rock failure process, the variation characteristics of rock permeability with the stress and the correlation between permeability-strain and permeability-stress in the whole stress-strain process are analyzed. The results show that the rock permeability growth starting point nearly corresponds to the rock expansion point. The permeability in stress-strain path can be divided to three divisions, including compaction range, expansion range of pre-peak and post-peak range. It is proposed that the change of rock permeability is caused by the interaction of the smaller micro-scale level burst, which results into the forming of permeable channel.Meanwhile, the rationality of the analysis is verified through the test data.
