Abstract: The advantages and disadvantages of sublevel open stoping with subsequent backfilling and sublevel caving method selected by Third Phase Project of Shirengou Iron Mine is analyzed and compared，and the economic and technical analysis is made.The results showed that: the sublevel open stoping with subsequent backfilling has the advantages as higher resource utilization ratio，less investment in capital construction，higher benefit，less land occupation，no relocation village，comprehensive utilization of tailings，smaller water discharge than that of the sublevel caving method.So the sublevel open stoping with subsequent backfilling is recommended.Shirengou Iron Mine should make necessary adjustment for the present Third Phase Project development work to meet the sublevel open stoping with subsequent backfilling.
