Abstract: In view of the instable roof resulted from the pillar recovery of the gold ore，and the insufficient recovery of the ore-body，the artificial pillar is adopted to support the roof instead of primary pillar.Through the similar simulation experiment research of primary pillar，it is demonstrated that the artificial pillar can replace the primary pillar for the fairly short ore-body.When the mining span is small，the cost of production can be saved by appropriately decreasing the size of artificial pillar.
