Abstract: Based on the analysis of the meaning of metadata，and the metadata standards for spatial geographic information，this paper summarized the function of metadata for mine geographic information.The process in establishing metadata standards for mine geographic information was analyzed and the frame of the standard was elaborated.Finally，the basic architecture and functionality of metadata system for mine geographic information was proposed.
