Abstract: In order to gain the optimal sloping angle of the open-pit mine, combined with the engineering experiences,a slope optimization cycle flow chart based on the numerical simulation is established which makes the optimization design of the slope more clear and direct. After the geotechnical investigation and rock mass tests, three dimensional explicit finite difference program FLAC3D is used to analyze various indexes which response of slope stability of the mine, including the displacement and the plastic zone under different slope angle of the mine,to determine the final sloping angle finally and find out the location of the potential slide surface. Then, the stability checking of design proposal is made and the slope stability factors are gained by the international prevailing software Slide. The case in an open pit proves that the method above is practical and effective for the slope optimization
