Abstract: A low-temperature calcination test of coal-series Kaolin with high COD from Xingshan of Hubei Province was studied. The results showed that the COD value was reduced from 1.0056×10-2 to 2.523×10-3 when the kaolin was roasted for 0.5 h at 425 ℃,which met the requirement of glass fiber for kaolin on COD. Contrasting and analyzing the XRD and IR spectra of product before and after calcinations,it is showed that low-temperature calcination not only could remove most of organic material from kaolin to reduce the COD value, but also can effectively save the vast constitution water in kaolin, which could ensure the activity of glass fiber material and the mixing function of micro area, and moreover improve the order degree of product.
