Abstract: In order to provide the reference basis for large-scale development and utilization of Xuanlong-style oolitic hematite, its process mineralogy research was carried out. The results showed that: gangue minerals in the ore can be classified as two categories consisting of feldspar, quartz etc. and clay, mica etc. The former is disseminated coarsely with no close relationship with hematite. So it is easy to be removed through the beneficiation process. The latter is finely disseminated and closely associated with hematite, resulting that it is difficult to be removed. But it has a higher LOI, and can be reduced through roasting. Accordingly, the process of high-gradient high intensity magnetic separation-reverse flotation-roasting (can be merged with iron-making process) is recommended to treat Xuanlong type oolitic hematite. Finally, based on summarizing some previous research results and this study above, it is pointed out that the process mineralogy should focus on studying the disseminated characteristics of mineral aggregates.
