Abstract: According to the stability and spatial formation of the composite slope with soil and rock of the open-pit mine with single thick coal seam, taking Zhundong Open-pit Coal Mine in Xinjiang as the engineering background, the combination method based on rigid body limit equilibrium method and FLAC3D numerical simulation method is adopted to study the spatial formation and stability of the composite slope of open-pit mine, analyze the potential sliding mode and stability regularity of composite slope and determine the maximum safety distance between mining area and dumping site. The study results show that the requirements of safety and economical can be met based on the final slope angle of Zhundong open-pit mining area is 34°,the slope angle of dumping site is 23° and the safety distance between mining area and dumping site is 150 m;the circular sliding mode that is along the inside of waste materials and combined sliding model that taking the slope exposed weak layer as the bottom layer of slope are the sliding modes of composite slope with soil and rock of the open-pit mine with single thick coal seam;under the action of rock mass wight, the failure mode of composite slope with soil and rock of open-pit mine with single thick coal seam is the mixed failure mode of tensile and shear.
