Abstract: Resource utilization of solid waste is an effective way to promote sustainable social development and environmental protection, the CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 ( CMAS) system glass-ceramics was prepared by conventional and microwave treatment using iron tailing and fly ash as the main raw materials. The effects of different CeO2 contents on the crystallization kinetic parameters, crystallization behavior and properties of glass-ceramics were investigated. The results showed that the improvement of CeO2 content led to the enhancement of the stability and polymerization of the glass and the gradual improvement of the crystallization temperature. However,CeO2-independent crystallization appeared in the conventionally treated samples with 4% CeO 2 content. Raman spectroscopy analysis revealed that the microwave treatment increased the [CeO4]content in the glass, which prompted the coupling of [CeO4]with metal cations and inhibited ion diffusion. The mechanical property tests revealed that the strength and toughness of glass-ceramics were enhanced when the doping amount of CeO2 was 2%. However, the mechanical properties of the glass-ceramics decreased as the CeO2 content increased.
