Abstract: In view that the main gangue of a Liaoning magnesite ore is quartz that has a very fine dissemination size, a reverse flotation flowsheet with one rougher and one cleaner in alkaline medium was adopted. The flotation was carried out at a ground fineness of 90% -200 mesh using SE as the collector. A magnesite concentrate having a weight yield of 73.31%, an MgO grade of 47.39% and SiO₂ content of 0.28% was obtained.
