Abstract: A novel crosslinked cellulose-graft-polyacrylamide-co-magnesium xanthate(SCX-g-AM)was synthesized by grafting copolymerization reaction of cellulose, acrylamide, and xanthogenate using epichlorohydrin as crosslinking reagent in aqueous sodium hydroxide. The present study proposed the use of SCX-g-AM in the removal of Cd2+ and Cr3+(initial concentration =10 mg/L)from aqueous mixed metal solutions. Batch adsorption studies ware determined the optimum adsorption conditions: adsorbent dosage is 3.33 g/L,pH value is 7,temperature is 25 ℃ and contact time is 30 min. Under these conditions, the removal of Cd2+ ahd Cr3+ get to above 95%.The results are in line with the normal scond-order kineties model.
