Abstract: On the basis of long-term fieldwork, summarized the types of iron deposits in Qinglong, the output characteristics and brief geogenesis of banded iron formations(BIFs). It is considered that the main types of Qinglong deposits are BIFs,skarn deposit and a small amount of magmatic rocks. The BIFs mainly occurred in Archean metamorphic formations including Qianxi,Luanxian and Zhuzhangzi rock groups. Magnetite quartzite as the main iron ore,is output in layered or lentoid structure. The iron deposit geogenesis of BIFs is closely related to submarine volcanic eruption, and the banded ferro and siliceous rhythmic strata stand for the periodic cycles of submarine exhalation. Microorganisms have participated in the deposition of BIFs.
