Abstract: Grinding media system directly affects the technical and economic indicators of the concentrator.The paper introduces the research progress on the grinding media system at home and broad from four aspects of grinding media's shape，size，ratio，filling rate etc..The studies indicated that different shapes of grinding media has different grinding characteristics，and different sizes of media is suitable for dealing with different particle size of the ore.A reasonable ratio can improve grinding efficiency，and the filling rate of the media can significantly impact the motion state of the media and the useful power of the mill.In view of the shortcomings in the current research achievements，the future research direction in the grinding media system was put forward.
