Abstract: With Taguang Taung laterite nickel ore in Myanmar as raw materials, inorganic mineral fiber used in papermaking was prepared with high-temperature slag. The test results showed that under conditions of the amount of lime added in smelting occupying 10% of the ore by mass, the temperature of the slag at 1 500 ~ 1 600 ℃, the surface speed of centrifuge fiber-forming drum 10 835 m/min, and high temperature slag flow of 2 800 kg/h, fiber-forming rate of high temperature slag reached 75.30% ~ 75.38%. The prepared inorganic mineral fibers are used to replace parts of plant fiber to produce corrugated medium and liner board. The results showed that maximum amount of inorganic mineral fibers in two kinds of paper reached up to 35% and 40% respectively (by the mass ratio of inorganic mineral fiber and plant fiber). The research provides a new way for efficient utilization of nickel-iron smelting slag.
