Abstract: Fluorspar is a rare and strategic resource. In order to realize more healthy and sustainable development of fluorite industry, and provide support for the related emerging industries and traditional industries, the distribution and characteristics of fluorite resources in China, together with the production status, the industrial policy, the market supply and demand, and the import and export features of fluorite and its downstream fluorine chemical products and their industrial development status are systematically analyzed based on brief introduction of wide applications of the fluorite. It is pointed out that the fluorite industry in our country will still remain a relatively sustainable and stable development trend under the background of stable traditional industries and rapidly-developing fluorine chemical industry.Due to the incongruously low reserve-production ratio of the fluorite resources in China, it is recommended that the state or the local government should make the prospecting efforts and progress on fluorite resources and strictly implement the market access system and the stable limit production measure to make full use of two markets both at home and abroad.By this way, the fluorite resources and its downstream industries can keep a healthy and sustainable development.Aiming at the large gap between export and import prices of fluorite resources, it is pointed out that China should promote the production of high value-added products through technological progress.
