Abstract: Materials with negative Poisson′s ratio effect including energy absorption than the traditional sense of the Poisson ratio of the material exhibits a more excellent performance in rock shock resistance, shear and many other aspects than the material with the traditional sense of the Poisson ratio. Therefore,in view of the issues that ordinary cable cannot resist the large deformation of soft rock and rock slope anchor breaking,a novel cable with large elongation and constant resistance and also with negative Poisson′s ratio effect has been researched and developed. The cable integrates the functions of monitoring-warning-control,with characteristics of high constant resistance, large deformation, super energy-absorbing,and successfully applied to the mine disaster control field. The axial deformation, radial deformation and constant resistance of large deformation cable with three different specifications of constant resistance were continuously measured. The experimental results show that all these cables have properties of constant resistance and energy absorption. The maximum deformation reaches 2000 mm during the constant resistance up to 200 kN,500 kN and 200 kN.This research fills the gaps in research of large deformation cable at home and abroad.
