Abstract: The rhombus thought is applied to the roadway support design.According to the specific feature of tunnel，the eigenelement of the supporting is determined，and the right matter element model for the supporting is established.From different feature units，many different supporting elements are diverged and generated.Based on the knowledge of rock mechanics，the convergence condition of roadway support is given to filter out the generated supporting element.And the FLAC software is also adopted to make the numerical simulation to finally determine the optimal supporting method.
