Abstract: The finite element method is adopted to build a simulation model of high and steep rock slope of open pit in Pingchuan Iron Ore.Based on the seepage mechanism analysis of groundwater at open pit,the coupling model of both seepage field and stress field is established, and the coupling stability of finite element two-dimensional slope seepage-stress field for high and steep rock slope at open pit is calculated, with the safety coefficients given. With the comparison of the results by the finite element method and the limit equilibrium method,it is found out that their safety coefficients are consistent, and the shear cracks caused by slope landslide are similar, and their destruction curves are coherent also.
