Abstract: Jinxi graphite ore has high vanadium content. The research indicates that most of the vanadium reports to the tailings in graphite flotation. Therefore, how to recover the vanadium from the tailings has become an issue that should be addressed in exploiting Jinxi graphite ore. In light of the characteristics of the vanadium in the ore and by learning from the vanadium extraction technology from stone coal, vanadium extraction test is made from Jinxi graphite tailings of the flotation test. The result shows that the adoption of a process consisting of roasting with acid addition, water leaching, removal of potash and aluminum, extraction, back extraction and oxidation-vanadium deposition can achieve a vanadium leaching rate, extraction rate, back-extraction rate and deposition rate of 95.5%, 87.6%, 99.9% and 99.0% respectively. Meanwhile, potassium alum and ammonium alum can also be obtained, with their yields in terms of flotation tailings being 9.2% and 23.2% respectively. In addition, as the leaching residue mainly consists of silicate and has high activity, it can be used as the raw material for cement mix and building material.
