Slope seismic dynamic response and stability have attracted common attention in the engineering and academic circles. The dynamic response and stability of the high rocky slope at an opencast mine were analyzed with ANSYS program in the following way. Firstly, the static finite element analysis was made to determine the initial stress field and the possible slip surface. Then, the slope dynamic response was analyzed and the stress, displacement, velocity and acceleration were studied. Finally, the slope local stability of the key slope parts was calculated and evaluated by introducing a concept of unit safety degree. On this basis, the slope integral stability was assessed by calculating the safety factor of sliding surface and checked by quasi-static approach. Satisfactory results were obtained, providing a scientific basis for the dynamic safety evaluation of this slope.

Investigation was made on the magnetization of 40~60 μm Daxigou siderite powder by roasting in suspension state to study the law of influence of roasting temperature, time and atmosphere on the quality of the roasted product. The result indicates that temperature is the primary factor influencing the roasting process, the time needed for perfect roasting decreases with the increase of the roasting temperature. With the oxygen increase in the roasting atmosphere, the product quality degrades because of oxidation. Prior to the complete decomposition of siderite, the FeCO3 decomposition is the essential factor influencing the roasting effect and a time prolonging would be beneficial to improving the product quality. After the siderite is fully decomposed, oxidation degree will be the main factor influencing the roasting effect and a roasting time increase would lead to a reduced product quality. The product from the suspension roasting of Daxigou siderite powder in a suspension state in a weak oxidation atmosphere with 1.05% oxygen concentration at 800 ℃ or 850 ℃ for one minute can be treated by magnetic separation to obtain a concentrate grading 58.21% iron or higher at an iron recovery no less than 79.39%.

To exploit and utilize an oolite hematite ore of Ningxiang type in western Hubei, a laboratory test of magnetizing roasting-low intensity magnetic separation was carried out for the run-of-mine ore containing 43.71% Fe and 0.93% P. The test result shows that when the -2 mm run-of-mine ore is blended with coal powder in a ratio of five to one, roasted at a temperature of 750 ℃for one hour, treated by low intensity magnetic separation at coarse size to discard the tailings, finely ground to 96% -325 mesh and handled by two cleanings of low intensity magnetic separation, an iron concentrate with an average grade of 60.12% and iron recovery (to run-of-mine ore + coal powder) of 77.42% can be obtained. However, the iron concentrate contains 0.62% P, which should be reduced through further study.

Comparative laboratory tests of reverse flotation were carried out on improving the 42.00% low grade mixed iron concentrate from magnetic separation of an iron concentrator by cyclonic static micro-bubble flotation column. The results showed that by one roughing, the concentrate grade of the flotation column was about 67%, three percentage points higher than that of flotation cell. However, the tailing had also a higher grade. For this, improvement was made on the flotation column by adding a pulsating magnetic system and flow-stabilizing pipe. The improved flotation column not only keeps the advantage of high concentrate grade but can greatly reduce the tailing grade. One roughing can obtain a concentrate grading 67.85% at a recovery of 79.22%. To achieve the similar indexes, the flotation cell needs one coughing, one cleaning and three scavengings.

The copper content in the ore inceases with the deepening of mining in Huili Zinc Mine to result in a Cu-Pb-Zn multimetal complex ore. The original flotation process consists of only operations for separating lead and zinc and can not suit the change of ore quality. For this, experimental study was made on a new process of potential-controlled preferential flotation in a sequency of copper, lead and zinc, which used LP-01 as collector for copper mineral, DDTC as collector for lead mineral, copper sulfate and butyl xanthate as activator and collector for zinc mineral respectively and lime as regulator for pulp potential; and the depressant combination of YN+ZnSO4 for lead mineral in copper and lead separation. As a result, the test obtained a copper concertrate graded 21.24% at a copper recovery of 59.54%,  lead concertrate graded 61.23% at a lead recovery of 53.47% and a zinc concertrate graded 56.43% zinc at a zinc recovery of 87.22%. The new process is both simple and environment-friendly and can be the basis of site process transformation.

The quality improvement & impurity reduction of iron concentrate can bring a considerable economic benefit to both sintering and iron making. However, the price addition of the iron concentrate for quality improvement & impurity reduction by way of beneficiation calculated according to the present commonly used method is insufficient and can not reflect the true value of quality improvement & impurity reduction. Therefore, a cost recovery method for calculating the economic benefit of the quality improvement & impurity reduction of iron concentrate by way of beneficiation is proposed. Based on the batch calculation for sintering and iron-making, it calculates the economical benefit by taking mineral processing, sintering and iron-making as a whole so as to objectively reflect the economic value of the iron concentrate that is upgraded by quality improvement & impurity reduction in way of beneficiation. It is of reference significance to the rational pricing of the iron concentrate based on quality.

Experiments on acoustic emission (AE) characteristics of complete rock failure process are carried out under uniaxial loading. The stress- strain curve, the relation between AE characteristics and time are obtained. The relation of the time with cumulative AE events, AE energy release rate, and the b-value of the relation between the magnitude and frequency are selected to study the precursory characteristics of rock failure. The results show that during the initial loading phase, AE events are very few and its cumulative number rapidly increases at the late phase of the rock elastic deformation and at the plastic phase; the AE energy keeps a low release rate for a long time during the rock fracturing process but exhibits an evident release just before the rock failure. Before the rock instability failure, b-value will drop quickly, with that of most rock samples reaching the lowest value before the rock failure, These precursory characteristics are significant for the field application of AE monitoring and forecasting technology so as to improve the accuracy of in-situ rock mass monitoring and forecast.

With the rapid development of GIS and Internet technologies, E-government system based on GIS has gradually become a necessary component of the informatization construction of governmental departments. However, various forms of stored geographical information make it difficult to exchange and share the information. Geography Markup Language (GML) has effectively promoted the integration of various geographic data sources and is therefore widely used. Meanwhile, great importance should be paid to the security issues it has brought in its wide application. The authors proposes using the encryption and digital signature to ensure the safety during GML transmission and set up a secured WFS concept and the corresponding architecture, which have been successfully applied in a specific project development.

The residual ore amount is regarded as an important index for assessing the extraction quality of a stope as it is directly related to the recovery level of mineral resource. In view of the lack of an efficient calculation method for the residual ore in stope, digitalization means such as CMS (Cavity Monitoring System) and SURPAC were comprehensively used in the study. As a result, a new visualization calculation method for stope residual ore was developed, which is based on 3D precision detection of cavities. First, CMS is used to make a 3D precision detection of a cavity; and then SURPAC, to construct the 3D models for the cavity, designed mining unit and bottom structure of the stope. On this basis, a 3D entity model for the residual ore at the stope bottom is constructed. From the model, the spatial distribution and the volume of the residual ore at the bottom can be accurately obtained and the ore amount in the mined cavity can be calculated. The practical application has proven that the method is practicable and reliable and provides an efficient technical means for an accurate calculation of residual ore amount.

In view that highly humid dust is characterized by strong adherence and easy glomeration. The technology of impinging jets is used for its collection, solving the problems such as “pasting” and “hardening” in other dry dust collection methods. Based on the analysis of the mechanism of impinging jet technology, FLUENT software is used to simulate the movement and settlement law of particulates in the impinging jet deduster. The simulation result shows that during the dust collection process by impinging jets, two dust-borne air streams in relative movement collide with each other, making the particulates oscillate to form a high concentration zone. This can increase the probability of particulate agglomeration and enhance the dust agglomeration effect, facilitating the increase of dust collection efficiency.

3R principles of cyclic economy are applied in planning the ecological construction of Ma Steel's Heshangqiao Iron Mine which is to be put into operation soon. In the plan, the engineering construction of its mining and mineral processing will make a full use of the existing facilities of Ma Steel's Nanshan Mine, thus saving a great amount of engineering investment. In the mining process, only the iron ore will be mined out as the product while the burden, waste rock and sewage will be utilized as resources. When the mine is closed, its pit and tailing reservoir will be reclaimed in a scientific manner to create a new tourist spot connecting with Caishiji senior area so as to form a tourist scene line consisting mountain, river, lake and garden. The ecological construction of Heshangqiao mining area will bring along that of Ma Steel's Nanshan mining area and of the eastern Maanshan so as to promote the development of Maanshan City towards an ecological one.

Jinxi graphite ore has high vanadium content. The research indicates that most of the vanadium reports to the tailings in graphite flotation. Therefore, how to recover the vanadium from the tailings has become an issue that should be addressed in exploiting Jinxi graphite ore. In light of the characteristics of the vanadium in the ore and by learning from the vanadium extraction technology from stone coal, vanadium extraction test is made from Jinxi graphite tailings of the flotation test. The result shows that the adoption of a process consisting of roasting with acid addition, water leaching, removal of potash and aluminum, extraction, back extraction and oxidation-vanadium deposition can achieve a vanadium leaching rate, extraction rate, back-extraction rate and deposition rate of 95.5%, 87.6%, 99.9% and 99.0% respectively. Meanwhile, potassium alum and ammonium alum can also be obtained, with their yields in terms of flotation tailings being 9.2% and 23.2% respectively. In addition, as the leaching residue mainly consists of silicate and has high activity, it can be used as the raw material for cement mix and building material.

Ruyang Molybdenum Mine originally adopted a simple flowsheet of direct low intensity magnetic separation to recover the magnetite from the tailings of molybdenum flotation. However, the iron concentrate had an iron grade of only about 20% due to a very fine dissemination particle size of the magnetite. Therefore, the mine finally adopts a two-staged grinding-separation process after two technical transformations. And a secondary classification featuring a tube mill in direct connection with hydrocyclones in the secondary stage grinding, enabling the final grind fineness to be over 95% -400 mesh, the iron ore to have a grade of higher than 63% and the recovery to increase by more than one percentage point compared to that before the second technical transformation. This has brought remarkable economic benefits to the mine.
