Abstract: To exploit and utilize an oolite hematite ore of Ningxiang type in western Hubei, a laboratory test of magnetizing roasting-low intensity magnetic separation was carried out for the run-of-mine ore containing 43.71% Fe and 0.93% P. The test result shows that when the -2 mm run-of-mine ore is blended with coal powder in a ratio of five to one, roasted at a temperature of 750 ℃for one hour, treated by low intensity magnetic separation at coarse size to discard the tailings, finely ground to 96% -325 mesh and handled by two cleanings of low intensity magnetic separation, an iron concentrate with an average grade of 60.12% and iron recovery (to run-of-mine ore + coal powder) of 77.42% can be obtained. However, the iron concentrate contains 0.62% P, which should be reduced through further study.
