Abstract: The residual ore amount is regarded as an important index for assessing the extraction quality of a stope as it is directly related to the recovery level of mineral resource. In view of the lack of an efficient calculation method for the residual ore in stope, digitalization means such as CMS (Cavity Monitoring System) and SURPAC were comprehensively used in the study. As a result, a new visualization calculation method for stope residual ore was developed, which is based on 3D precision detection of cavities. First, CMS is used to make a 3D precision detection of a cavity; and then SURPAC, to construct the 3D models for the cavity, designed mining unit and bottom structure of the stope. On this basis, a 3D entity model for the residual ore at the stope bottom is constructed. From the model, the spatial distribution and the volume of the residual ore at the bottom can be accurately obtained and the ore amount in the mined cavity can be calculated. The practical application has proven that the method is practicable and reliable and provides an efficient technical means for an accurate calculation of residual ore amount.
