Abstract: To make a comprehensive utilization of the gold tailings deposited in large quantities in Henan Lingbao region, test research was made on preparing glass-ceramics by using the gold tailings in Linhu which is representative in this region as the main raw material. The result shows that when the gold tailings from Linghu is mixed with aluminum hydroxide, sodium carbonate, calcium oxide and zinc oxide in a certain ratio and treated by smelting, water quenching and heat treatment, a glass-ceramics product with β-Wollastonite as its main crystalline phase can be produced. The favorable heat treatment system includes a sintering temperature of 892 ℃ and crystallizing temperature of 976 ℃(T_c＋10 ℃).
