Abstract: Dongguashan suffered a water rush-in accident with the maximum rush-in water rate of 500m³/h due to the disclosure of a water-containing fractured belt in drilling a return airway. Curtain grouting method was adopted in passing the fractured belt, with eight curtain holes, 756.6m advance, grouting volume of 131.646m³ and three months' construction period. After the construction, the residual water sprinkling rate is only 2 m³/ h, fully satisfying the design requirement.
