Abstract: With Xinjiang Wulanlinge bentonite as the raw material,a series of anionic and cationic organic betonites were prepared by adding anionic and cationic surfactants. The raw betonite and the organic betonites were characterized by XRD,SEM and viscosity. The XRD results show that after the modification, the spacing between montomorillonite layers is increased from 1.337 nm to 2.538 nm; and the SEM results indicate that the anionic and cationic surfactants have penetrated in between montomorillonite layers.Anionic and cationic organic betonite was used as absorbent to remove glutamic acid in the biological waste water treatment. When pH = 5.6 and the dosage of anionic and cationic organic betonite is 2 g/L,the removal rate of glutamic acid can reach 40.09%.
