Abstract: The north district of Sijiaying Iron Mine is a large domestic iron mine developed in recent years.And tailing pond is one of the three main projects in mining，dressing and tailing processing，and plays an important role in construction of the mine.To solve the problem of large tailing pond area badly affecting the environment，the investigation on the status of coal mining subsidence nearby coal mine is carried out，and its stability research is made.It is proposed that the coal mining subsidence be as the iron ore tailings pond.Its application can not only save a lot of land and improve environmental conditions，but the deformation can be controlled within the allowance in a safety operation.It provides a model case for the site selection and construction of tailings pond for similar mines.
