Abstract: Based on the experimental study on the ingredients and firing，the firing tests of cementing materials with mixture of iron tailings has been successfully completed and a breakthrough is obtained.According to the GB/175-2007 standard of common portland cement，the cementing material sample with addition of 6% iron tailings has got the strength that is equal to 52.5# portland cement; the cementing material sample with addition of 10% iron tailings has got the strength that is equal to 42.5R portland cement; and the cementing material sample with addition of 10% iron tailings has got the strength that is equal to 32.5 portland cement.XRD，SEM and EDS testing results on the samples show that the cementing material fired with iron ore tailings have a similar mineral composition to the clinker aggregate of Portland cement.
