Abstract: The material and size composition of tailings of separating Fe from red mud of bayer process was detailedly studied, focusing on the occurrence of the valuable metals such as Al, Ti, REE, Sc, Ga, etc.The results show that 46.08% of Al2O3 exists in the form of diasporite and gibbsite minerals and more than 90% of the minerals are larger than 0.005 mm which can be recovered by floatation. The Ti, REE, Sc and Ga should be extracted by hydrometallurgy for their micro-fine dissemination size. This study provides detailed data and theoretical basis for the comprehensive utilization of the tailings of separating Fe from red mud of bayer process.
