Abstract: That open pit is altered to be the tailing pond as tailings dumping site is one of the comprehensive utilization methods for open pit.The key technologies for tailing pond reconstruction from open pit is systematically described，which include the determination of tailings volume，the safety and stability of tailings slope，the security and reliability of tailings discharge and backwater system，and the location determination of the tailings discharge in pit.It supplies a reference and plays a guide for the implementation of the tailings pond reconstruction from mining pits.
